Hi friends,
for work I am currently investigating on “The Future of Communities” and realized how much I missed you - my nearest and dearest of them all. How have you been?
My biggest wish for the remaining year of 2023, that I labeled with the motto ENERGY (good energy, instant positive gut energy, uplifting energy, optimize the availability of energy and so on), is that there would be more time for everything. Why on earth is everything moving so fast? You don’t watch it for a second and we are in April, have left Q1 behind and are diving straight into spring time.
Let me know what’s on your mind - I’ll go first and share a few of mine
Wishing you a lovely Sunday & be safe
Julia 🪂

🍿 LINKS - quick bites
Art Stephanie Rosenthal has done amazingly progressive work at Gropius Bau in her position as the director. As she moves on, Berlin will be lucky to welcome no other than Jenny Schlenzka as of September 2023, “who played a key role in establishing performance art within the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) and in recent years has made a significant contribution to the progressive diversification of New York’s cultural landscape” (LINK)
Travel I Just came back from a road trip and found amazing healthy food spots for Zürich through the app Steps, such as the cute corner shop “Saftlade” that only serves one daily delicious dish from fresh local produce (LINK to app, LINK to food place)
Travel II Went for my first ice bath at Therme Vals by architect Peter Zumthor and am totally hooked. Late to the party, but wondering where you could do this on a regular basis in Berlin without having to dip into a lake? (LINK)
Instagram My latest discovery is Carlo who mainly shares funny reels that always serve as throwback to my 90ies youth but he also does a Sunday “radio show” which is a pure delight (LINK)
Tech Former Apple employees are building humane, the first AI hardware and services platform “to shift technology towards a more humane future that supports our well-being, democratic functioning, and shared information environment.” (LINK)
Event Your not so average Friday night entertainment: The Füde Dinner Experience combines nourishing plant-based food with the sacred practice of nudity. The program consists of movement, breath work, knowledge sharing about art history and sharing a meal. All bodies are welcome, currently in the US only, but feels very Berlin to me. (LINK)
Book After her celebrated debut “The Girls”, the author Emma Cline will publish a new book (!) named “The Guest” (LINK)
Theater One of the movies that had a major impact on me when growing up was “The Lost Honour of Katharina Blum” by the 1974 novel of Henrich Böll, directed by Volker Schlöndorff and Margarethe von Trotta. It is a slightly brutal story on public denunciation by tabloids in times of the RAF. The main character, Angela Winkler, did now return to the stage at Schaubühne and plays Christian Kracht’s mother in “Eurotrash”. Her performance left me (again) speechless. Podcast Dr. Christian Busch and his latest book “The Serendipity Mindset: The art and science of creating good luck” has been covered widely already. I very much enjoyed this (unfortunately only in German) discussion with him on how you can positively engineer your future by tweaking your mindset into the right direction. Who would have thought that in his day job, he is the director of the Global Economy program at New York University's Center for Global Affairs, where he teaches on purpose-driven leadership, impact entrepreneurship, social innovation, and emerging markets? It’s already been a while but the treatments with Freddi Laker at her Peace of Mind Studio were magical. In a time where work life was quite turbulent, she lowered my cortisol production by a severe amount and left me floating on clouds when I exited her space. If you want to zone out but don’t know how or can use some support, she is your girl! Book her services here (I tried the Ayurvedic oil & the Reiki treatment and can recommend 100%).
